Yeah, 4.12 is definitely faster. But I found out that on 4.16 disabling vsync in the compositor (and keeping it enabled on the driver) makes the experience much better -- especially after another bug that was fixed related to performance!
Do you know how to enable vsync on AMD's driver? If so, I can send you a 4.16 module for testing

I saw yesterday on enabling vsync via /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-amdgpu.conf.....haven't tried it yet. Is there another way? Sure, I'd like to test a 4.16, breaking things comes natural to me.......still working on the fixing part.
