OverlayFS Porteus

Here is a place for your projects which are not officially supported by the Porteus Team. For example: your own kernel patched with extra features; desktops not included in the standard ISO like Gnome; base modules that are different than the standard ISO, etc...

@beny, @raja
I am sorry.
I have given up to analyze OVERLAY ISO issues from you.
I am in the maze to find how to search the source of the troubles.
Would you help me if you have an answer?

Thanks.

neko, Boot process will not progress after loading all modules. There is some problem with "initrd.zstd" . ISO boots with different versions of vmlinuz and initrd.zstd.

Because nothing has been changed except the kernel.

@beny
Would you tell me the URL of Porteus ISO that includes RTL88x2BU driver.
(lib/modules/N.N.N-porteus/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/88x2bu.ko)
If Porteus doesn't have that driver, you need to build it by youself.

Thanks.

hi neko this git package is an arch aur package that i use also in slackware environment,btw you have to have the kernel source to build it,with the 5.10 and 5.16 we have no probem to build it,the error is on the 5.17 maybe we can waiting for the 5.17.0 i don't use in porteus the stripped kernel isn't enough for the build..

neko, can you please upload vmlinuz,initrd.zstd and 000-kernel.xzm (5.17-rc2) for iso " OV.APorteus-XFCE-v22.01.28-x86_64.iso (861 M)"

Since I have your previous iso, they should work. Thanks.

You can get those easily from the ISO.

Code: Select all

# mkdir mnt
# mount -t iso9660 -o loop OV.APorteus-XFCE-v22.01.28-x86_64.iso mnt
# cp mnt/boot/syslinux/vmlinuz .
# cp mnt/boot/syslinux/initrd.zstd .
# cp mnt/porteus/base/000-kernel.xzm .
# umount mnt
# rm -fr mnt
# md5sum *

neko, It is so easy, but I don't want to download the ISO again(800+MB) as the previous one (rc1) too works with older kernels an initrd.

Okay, forget about my request.
