"APorteus ISO builders" are updated to v16.12.08.
[fix for a missing dependency of new "wget" version.]
The "wget" package was updated.
The new version of "wget" needs new 2 dependency packages.
The "wget" package is included in 001-core.xzm.
The new 2 dependency packages was not included in 001-core.xzm.
Therefor these dependency packages is included in 001-core.xzm of v16.12.08 builders.
Please refer to http://forum.porteus.org/viewtopic.php? ... 997#p36689
NOTE:
If the "wget" command does not be executed, please refer to http://forum.porteus.org/viewtopic.php? ... 120#p51196

Re: ArchLinux packages manager for Porteus
When I install APorteus-v16.12.08-x86_64.iso on a USB and then I booted it up. Then I use MC to open a ISO file but it wouldn't open it up all it gave me was ERROR. Now my question is can that be fixed?
I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.

Re: ArchLinux packages manager for Porteus
@Jack
The "ERROR" is not fixed.
But it continues process by clicking the "ERROR" message box.
Thanks.
------------------------------------------
[Midnight Commander]
I do not know MC well.
I read the article as follow.
http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2009/06/how ... r-in-unix/
2. How to mount or view an iso file as a non root user ?
A non root user can also mount a file, even without sudo permission. Using midnight commander you can mount the iso file. Actually, it is really not mounting the file. But you can view the iso file content just like viewing some other files. Refer to our previous article that explains about Linux mc – midnight commander.
Steps to view iso file in midnight commander:
1. Open midnight command (mc).
2. Navigate to the path where ISO file exist.
3. Click on the iso file, it will enter in to the iso file as like a normal directory and now you will be seeing the content of the file.
4. To view the normal file or the file of the iso, Press <F3> when your cursor is on the file.
The "ERROR" is not fixed.
But it continues process by clicking the "ERROR" message box.
Thanks.

I know all about MC I have use it since MS-Dos 3.1 around 1985. That is one of my best file and I have use it for years.

Re: ArchLinux packages manager for Porteus
I also get strange error numbers in a red box when trying to view ISO files with mc.
You may ask brokenman for a fix. Porteus 3.2 also had this. Should be fixed in 3.2.1 (did not test this yet).
I have made a ISO with ISO builder. Desktop is xfce. I hit all boxes to include all software.
The menu features chromium (text but no icon) but it is not included. Should be fixed. Glitch also was in last ISO i downloaded from here.
Can you optimize Aporteus for saving changes? Just using the cheatcode does not work well. Few settings are saved. Most changes are lost.
I see a lot of errors when shutting down that /mnt/live/memory can not be unmounted...
Can you include the xzm conversion tools like in normal porteus? (dir2xzm, deb2xzm, txz2xzm and so on).
How do i set up printers in Aporteus? Tried loading cups and some package for printer configuration but could not get it to run. Browser opens connected to a local IP / port but this page can not be loaded.
May the printing module from normal porteus work or is this slackware specific?
Last thing... i have a problem with dhcpcd. There is a start job for dhcpcd running on every bootup. Waiting for a network connection on unused LAN port slows down the bootup a lot.
Can this be fixed / disables somehow?

Re: ArchLinux packages manager for Porteus
I agree with fred08155 on what he said.
I build Mate and it ran great. And it need more fixing the look on the display because I couldn't change anything. It is to strip down as far as display looks.

Re: ArchLinux packages manager for Porteus
I saved some changes to a xzm module. But this is a hard job. First i make an tar.xz archive from /mnt/live/memory/changes. Then i delete unwanted stuff like zero byte files and empty folders from archive or cache files that i do not want to include.
Then i rename archive to .txz. Then i boot up normal slackware based porteus open terminal and use txz2xzm for conversion.
Finally i put the resulted module in Aporteus modules folder.
Booting my selfmade ISO with changes module now results in a desktop with WLAN connected, Keyboard layout is set to german (starts with english or japanese). Browsers are set up to my personal settings and some Bookmarks and cookies included for pages i visit on a regulary base.
Some more software is included and unused software was moved to an "optional" folder but this does not need saved changes.
Should not be too complicated to include the process of making an unedited changes module into Aporteus. May be terminal app or GUI. At least something should be there.
With some corrections and some polishing i would prefer Aporteus before slackware based Porteus.

@Jack & @fred08155
I listed up issues pointed out by you.
http://forum.porteus.org/viewtopic.php? ... 997#p36689
I will study those step by step.
But my power is poor and my PC environment is poor too.
(I do not have printer, etc)
Therefore there may be unresolbable issues for me.
If you have some good answers, please show me them.
Thanks.
