A quick build for MATE (1.8.1) desktop

Here is a place for your projects which are not officially supported by the Porteus Team. For example: your own kernel patched with extra features; desktops not included in the standard ISO like Gnome; base modules that are different than the standard ISO, etc...

A quick build for MATE (1.8.1) desktop

Post#1 by bdheeman » 08 Sep 2014, 20:27

Pre-requisite, in addition to the 05-devel.xzm, we need to download, build, install or activate the following:
automake >=1.12
icon-naming-utils >= 0.8.90
libwnck >= 2.30.0
vala >= 0.22.0
The above mentioned versions worked for me, but YMMV ;)

It's still at an ALPHA stage, not ready for production use :(

Many $PKGNAM.info, slack-desc and, or doinst.sh files are missing or need to be created/copied from exiting/working versions of respective packages.

Many a Porteus customization and, or patches are also still pending. I'm, indeed, a bit lazy in in finding and, or applying patches.

Please download and try this quick build, if you have enough of time, disk space and, or machine hours to build, test, update and, or add missing pieces.

A feedback of yours, though howsoever negative might be, shall highly be appreciated.
