LXQT on Porteus

Here is a place for your projects which are not officially supported by the Porteus Team. For example: your own kernel patched with extra features; desktops not included in the standard ISO like Gnome; base modules that are different than the standard ISO, etc...

LXQT on Porteus

Post#1 by freestyler » 26 Apr 2014, 09:27

Here's a first look of LXQT running on porteus.

So far I haven't got it working as a standalone module and am using it with kde and kwin as the window manager. I haven't tested it with openbox yet

Most things seem to be working and it's quite fast and responsive especially running kde apps.

I'm planning on putting together 2 flavors, one using kwin and some kde deps and one using openbox and as little resources as possible.

Good job, freestyler! :)
LXQT was next on my list, after I finish the LXDE-UI pack! Looking forward to your release of LXQT (standalone/with openbox if possible).

Ive uploaded the 64bit modules, I haven't finished building 32bit as I don't have network access on my 32bit installation and its made it a bit of a pain chasing deps.

Hi!

This is really exciting. I tried the Razor-QT desktop, but didn't much care for it. I like LXDE, but it's not very nice to look at (imo) so I'm hopeful about LXQT. The images I've seen look like a great blend of flash and function.

I hope this is progressing well, I'd love to see this come to Porteus.

Thanks!

TM

@freestyler:

How are you doing? And how about that lxqt version of porteus?

I have tried lxqt under archlinux thru evolution os (a friendly arch linux forum) and mageia cauldron (mandriva clone using rpm). The strategy proposed by evolution does not work at all. By contrast mageia testing of lxqt is going pretty well, see:
https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic. ... 4&start=25
http://lxqt.org/

If we get the lxqt de on porteus, we could be amongst the first one to implement it slaxware!

Lxqt just flies on my msi 340x. It has given it a second life. :D

Hi Francois,
Siduction ( a distro based on debian SID) is also offering LXQT for i486 as well as amd64 arch. I have tried it and found it amazingly fast and snappy. When Porteus comes with LXQT I will let my XFCE go (although I liked it very much).

Oh joy!

I just read that fanthom is working on lxqt:

But maybe some rabat-joie will just say that it is just another desktop!
