HPLIP, gscan2pdf, Skype, KeepNotes modules and an error: Could not find LIBS.TXT

Post#1 by joejac » 09 Nov 2019, 16:24

Hello,
I am trying to revive a machine of a friend. I created a live USB with Porteus 5 KDE very nice indeed. I was thinking to create a custom USB for me too, I like this, but I need certain programs indispensable for me and my friend.
1. Issues:
I was trying to install HPLIP from USM with no luck since yesterday I get the error:
Please wait 6 hours for the next database update. Could not find LIBS.TXT
By the way I updated USM and all its repositories, same problem and I have almost a day trying.
Same error for Skype and KeepNote
gscan2pdf: is not in any repos

2. Programs Modules
I was looking for xzm modules for these programs:
HPLIP: For HP Printers and Scanners
And these indispensables:
gscan2pdf: For scanning documents and books, the best for Linux.
Skype: Communicating tool, vital.
KeepNote: To keep my knowledge-base in a simple and intuitive manner also as documenting tool, vital tool for me.
http://keepnote.org/

How I miss Porteus ISO Configurator. :(

Thanks for any help
Regards
joejac

Hi joejac,
For gscan2pdf
1) Download gscan2pdf_2.5.7-1_all.deb and then deb2xzm
https://sourceforge.net/projects/gscan2 ... pdf/2.5.7/
gscan2pdf is a program written in Perl
2) via usm: perl-5.22.2-x86_64-1.txz
