What happens exactly?

I just downloaded the file, activated it, clicked on it in the Menu and got absolutely Nothing.

Tried terminal mode and got:

Code: Select all

guest@porteus:~$ smplayer
smplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libQt5Widgets.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
guest@porteus:~$

checklist:
1. is qt5 installed?
2. is it the same version that (this) smplayer was compiled with?

@Ed_P, in this post I provide a link to Qt5, which is required by SMPlayer: Re: SMPlayer for Porteus 4.0 (Post by fulalas #68413)

-update-

Without your qt module:

Code: Select all

guest@porteus:~$ smplayer
smplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libQt5Widgets.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
With your qt module:

Code: Select all

guest@porteus:~$ smplayer
smplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.1.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
guest@porteus:~$
This is my Cinnamon system:

Code: Select all

But this doesn't address francois's problem.

@Ed_P, you just need to follow what the terminal says: you don't have libssl. Here's the link: http://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/ ... 6_64-1.txz

Here is the problem:

Code: Select all

root@porteus:~# smplayer
qt.qpa.plugin: Could not load the Qt platform plugin "xcb" in "" even though it was found.
This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Available platform plugins are: eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, vnc, webgl, xcb.

Aborted
root@porteus:~#

@francois
adding libxkbcommon seems to fix this, when that message arises..(that is, if the xcb libs are already there)

Code: Select all

root@porteus:/mnt/sdb3/64_V40/porteus/modules/smplayer# ls
libxkbcommon-0.6.1-x86_64-1dj.txz qt5-5.11.3-x86_64-1alien.xzm
libxkbcommon-0.6.1-x86_64-1dj.xzm smplayer-18.10.0-x86-64.xzm
and

Code: Select all

root@porteus:~# smplayer
qt.qpa.plugin: Could not load the Qt platform plugin "xcb" in "" even though it was found.
This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Available platform plugins are: eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, vnc, webgl, xcb.

and required libs by libxkbcommon are there as output with:

Code: Select all

locate libXdmcp
locate libXau
locate libxcb
No way for me to access to dependency thru usm -d:
usm under porteus 5.0 rc1

However, I am not dying as:

Code: Select all

qt-4.8.7-x86_64-4.xzm
smplayer-18.1.0-x86_64-1_slonly
does the job. :shifty:

Thanks.

@francois, check these libs (address at least the versions indicated):

Code: Select all

libunistring-0.9.3-x86_64-1.xzm
libxkbcommon-0.8.0-x86_64-1cf.xzm
python3-3.6.4-x86_64-1.xzm

xcb-util-keysyms-0.4.0-x86_64-2.xzm
xcb-util-renderutil-0.3.9-x86_64-2.xzm

It seems that the discussion on the more recent slackware edition will have to be move into quarantine. ;) Is there any arguments against that move?

Nope. And an updated topic title would be nice.

Code: Select all

#EXTINF:0,Digital Impulse Astra Trance Electronica/Dance
http://orion.shoutca.st:8147/astra

#EXTINF:0,Digital Impulse Ambient and Chillout
http://5.39.71.159:8994/stream

#EXTINF:0,Digital Impulse Ambient Fantasy
http://5.39.71.159:8193/stream
on my desktop. clicking that file opens audacious as my "webradio" (porteus 4.0 64bit xfce)
