[solved]print module for X86_64?

Good morning, I would like to set up my HP Deskjet 930C throught the CUPS localhost:631.
My printer is plugged in SFR hub. In contrast to the BThub in the UK where printers are automatically set up on Porteus, with neuf-hub, we have to Add it through CUPS wizard and say that its url is: socket://192.168.1.1:9100, then say the model of the printer (for HP, I have the choose only between 2 generic models: laserjet, and deskjet, so I choose deskjet)
then I try to test the printer, but it say
Print Test Page HPDeskjet-studyroom Error

Unable to print test page:

Unsupported format 'application/vnd.cups-banner'!

CUPS and the CUPS logo are trademarks of Apple Inc. CUPS is copyright 2007-2009 Apple Inc. All rights reserved.
However, when I type 192.168.1.1:9100 with a browser, the printer print the user agent. Does it mean I don't need driver?

And I cannot print with any software.
The building of HPlib don't solve this problem.

I had the same issue with slax So X86 system, and it was solved by adding the module "printmodule" available at http://www.slax.org/modules.php?action=detail&id=26

Where can I find, or build this module for Porteus X86_64 please?
I would like to avoid the i486 compatibility library because they are huge.

Thank you

Bablotin the module that you ask for is the one I would also like to have. Under slax Gusterrapolis' module would allow me to function with my brother hl2170w thru CUPS. I was really happy these days.

Although I have installed Ponce's compat32.xzm, that should provide the 32 bit libraries, I do not get some brother driver to get my brother printer work.

Hi,

Use Gutenprint module. Download it from Linux Package Search site.

gutenprint-5.2.6-x86_64-1.txz

http://pkgs.org/slackware-13.37/slackwa ... 1.txz.html

It has most printer driver. My old Canon MP145 printing happily using this driver.

@ cttan.

I have downloaded the module gutenprint-5.2.6-x86_64-1.txz, converted, added to /porteus/module.
then reboot.
I can see my printer model, but when I try to print, it still say

Code: Select all

lpr-cups: Unsupported format 'application/postscript'!
Print Test Page HP Error

Unable to print test page:

Unsupported format 'application/vnd.cups-banner'!

So, it means that you are able to print with your Canon.
Did you built your 64-bit modules from source?

@blablotin:
Would you post these three modules of yours on some site like mediafire. I am sure they would be a hit for those non-hp printers owners. For sure a hit for me. I am quite tired of trying to solve the issue my brother printer.

For sure, if you may.

Very nice to you Blablotin. However, I get the same problem loading your files than those I have tried.
I still get the error message:
''The page your are trying to view is the result of posted form data. If you resend the data, any action the form carried out (such as search or online purchase) will be repeated.''

I will have to verify that once more under no changes mode.

Yesterday, I bought nothing. And I rarely buy something thru the net.

Posted after 7 hours 44 minutes 38 seconds:
What I did exactly :( :
1) downloaded the xzm modules from the hyperlinks that you proposed.
2) tried by rebooting under my usual save change environment (a) and then under always fresh environment (b) for the following 3) and 4) procedures.
3) used kde > system > cups
4) used the admin function to add a printer (if I remember I was asked user and password). selected brother hl2170w as it was offered, selected brother make, selected the appropriate printer driver, finally accepted as is the settings.

To be sure though, I will review everything tonite. I am presently out of reach of my 64-bit installation.
