Post#1 by miguipda » 15 Jul 2014, 14:43

Hi,

does it exist any working porteus package of iTunes to be able to connect and synchronize the iPad with our Porteus computer ?

Sincerely thanks to create one package for both 32 and 64 bits ;-)

Google is your friend miguipida, see:

It is curious that mac os based on some linux (BSD) components does not give back. The hypothesized reason is that the linux market is too small and there is not much money to do with linux users.

The linux users solution is to transform their itune list into a compatible linux list with the following application:

Try install Rhythmbox.
I have installed gtkpod to sync music on my ipod nano 5th in porteus. But I think it does not work on iPad.

For that, you will need to transform their itune list into a compatible linux list (bis). 8)

I was wrong. It seems that you can play your ipod list with the banshee media player, citations:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banshee_(music_player)

1.0 Banshee.
Banshee can play and import audio CDs and supports many portable media players, including Apple's iPod, Android devices and Creative's ZEN players.
iPod manager: Allows the transferring of songs, videos, and album art to and from the device.

Though some links say that it is not possible to import the content of the ipod on linux:
http://www.linux.org/threads/help-with- ... tion.2369/
http://askubuntu.com/questions/79421/ho ... s-5-device
The banshee faq says it does, citation:
http://banshee.fm/support/faq/
iPods - most iPods and iOS devices should work with Banshee. Apple frequently updates the database format the devices use by upgrading iTunes, so it's recommended to use Banshee exclusively to manage your iPod, or not at all. Importing music from an iPod managed with iTunes should be fine, though.

Banshee is available for slackware:

There is a linuxquestion thread from the maintainer of banshee slackware:

2.0 Other media players for apple devices.
It seems that you can download your ipod lists with other mediaplayers:
http://www.wikihow.com/Manage-an-iPod-in-Linux

Amarok, gpodder, two mediaplayers could synch with apple's media players. They are available on usm.
