Anyone tried compiling trinity for slacks-remix64?
Propably impossible to do for human users, a perfectly compiled trinity_x64.sq4.lzm
would be an attractive entry on the download-page.

Simply converting trinitys tgz-modules to lzm is by far not enough. Guess
it needs to be compiled it some special way (e.g. using both, 32- and 64-bit-libraries).

KDE4 and lxde are pretty slow on my 1,6 GHz-Notebook. A real window-manager would increase
usability of slax-remix a lot.

Trinity rather wont be officially supported in 64bit edition.

what do you mean by "a real window-manager"? the window manager under lxde is openbox, under kde is kwin.

Yes, KDE with slax-classic. It's still worse than XP but at least faster then kde4, lxde and alike.
In lxde, I hardly can use firefox, dolphin and kwrite at the same time. Desktop-switching is not
working properly, programs load slowly, a menu editor is missing and mouse-coursor-themes are only
partly supported. KDE4 is even worse with all the apple-graphics, eating
performance and can't be deactivated. I actually thought slax-remix64 would run faster as XP32.
It doesn't.
Tried some faster file-managers at least. Beside dolphin and konqueror
they all don't support global file-association and context-menus. So everytime clicking on a file it's a
surprise which of the many redundant programs will show up. The file-searching is incedible as
well: It's extremely slow, in standard-configuration doesn't use an index and if it does then it never gets
updated. Exclusion of directories is not possible and the kde4-version with it's semantic-search just
doesn't work at all. However, kde 3.5 is the best linux-desktop I've seen so far. Pretty much developed,
stable and overall fast enough. Unfortunately discontinued. All the gnome-like environments are slow and
often unstable. In xfce for instance, window-borders, taskbar icons or even the taskbar itself crash
sometimes and dissappear. When the system is busy it can happen that the whole graphical environment
crashes - a problem in kde 3.5 too. These all are troubles microsoft faced as well until they quit with
win9x and changed to NT. It was developed in background for the industry. With Win2000 it suddenly
got introduced to the public: A stable OS, easy to use and fast - out of nothing. Since that
linux is the worse alternative, even though it's free and highly configurable. With "real window-manager",
I mean a fast one, bug-free, not crashing and without need to use the terminal (especially for changing settings).

good news indeed - unfortunately i'm not going to drop KDE-4. i have just put a lot of work in it and like it very much (i think other users feels the same).
i still see an option for 64bit Trinity as an Porteus addon same as "Tiny Desktop" by crashman:

someone needs to prepare packages for 64bits first - another challenge for the community
