1) You have to extract the source package. Right click with the mouse on the package and accept extract here.
2) Change directory in terminal mode to get into the extracted folder.
3) look into the folder to find some install or readme file. There should be instructions there about the necessary packages to be able to build SLI from source. If you are lucky there might not be additional necessary packages. If you need additional packages, you can check if they are already on porteus os stock. Use terminal and for each needed packages do slackyd -g `package-part-or-whole-name`, as in:
bash-4.2# slackyd -g c++
If some additional packages are necessary, you can use PPM (porteus package manager, simpler gui method) or slackyd in command line.
4) usually the instruction will ask you to use the command ./configure, then make and make install. This should be stated in the instructions. Make sure you are within the unfolded package as stated above.

Good luck. ;)

Hi francois thanks for your reply.
here is the install text file that come with the package:
--------------------
SLI requires the following utilities (and their dependencies) to operate:
- rsync,
- a GUI to ask the SSH password (SSH_ASKPASS environment variable must be set).

Attention, SLI use the CMake construction system. So, the installation
procedure is:
1) extract the archive containing the program sources,
2) enter the directory containing the sources,
3) run the command `cmake .'
(or `cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX = / usr .' to install the
package under `/usr' instead of `/usr/local' ),
4) run the command `make',
5) run the command `make install'
(or `make install DESTDIR=absolute_path_to_somedir' to place the files
in a temporary location instead of the expected one).
--------------------------------

i followed this as root but here is the result:

Code: Select all

@unixino
you were missing a dot '.' in cmake command.
anyway - here is correct way of creating xzm from SLI (run inside /src folder)

Code: Select all

cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX =/usr .
make
mkdir /tmp/SLI
make install DESTDIR=/tmp/SLI
dir2xzm /tmp/SLI /root/Desktop/sli-1.0.1-x86_64-1prt.xzm

@fanthom
i used the code but here is the result

root@porteus:~/Desktop/sli-1.0.1/src# cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX =/usr .
Parse error in command line argument: -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX
Should be: VAR:type=value
CMake Error: No cmake script provided.
CMake Error: Problem processing arguments. Aborting.

@unixino
must be some silly syntax issue.
i'll try to prepare this package myself when back home today.

EDIT:\\

here is the module:
http://www.4shared.com/file/j_xkcCKq/sl ... -1ftm.html

must warn that this installer did not work for me claiming 'this is not live system'
