If you are looking for a specific 64-bit package and you can't find it in any of the 64-bit repos, please post a request for it here

Linux Multi Media Studio (LMMS) 64 bit ?

Post#1 by kadalka » 18 Dec 2012, 22:47

Is it possible to have a compiled xzm release of this software ?
LMMS - Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LMMS

If possible, provide links and say what kind of libraries should be given.

If it doesn't matter, say how you compile it with Porteus...

So I expect to never ask again about it...
I like Slackware so I tried Porteus...

hi Kadalka,

lmms appears to be in the slackbuilds.org repo: http://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.0/audio/lmms/

It lists jack-audio-connection-kit, portaudio, pulseaudio, and fluidsynth as optional dependencies -- would you want support for any of those built in? There might be other dependencies that are required (some that are in slackware but not Porteus by default), I'll give it a try this afternoon and see if it works. Basically, you'd run the slackbuild just as if you're in slackware, then convert the txz package to a module with txz2xzm.
Please take a look at our online documentation, here. Suggestions are welcome!

I just tested it out, and the slackbuild for lmms compiles successfully on 64-bit Porteus, you just need to add the package "fftw-3.2.2" which is in the Slackware repo (I got it from pkgs.org). I'm on the bus so I can't upload the module right now, but if you'd like me to do so (rather than compiling it for yourself), just let me know and I'll upload it later tonight. It did complain about a tripleoscillator plugin being missing. probably something from one of the optional deps I mentioned above.

Pulseaudio and fluidsynth could be a good Idea. My computer needs PulseAudio with Linux Mint :D .
However, sounds work without PulseAudio with Porteus. :Yahoo!: If you could have two modules, one with and another without Pulse, it would be great.
BTW, do your best...

Thank You.

As I said, I do would like to have it uploaded, so I may make some test when I downloaded it.
I then may give here the way how I install it when the live medium is used so EVERY ONE could use it with no fears.

Most guys have Porteus installed when I try to see how it runs when it is in live mode.

Take your time, I would try it tomorrow may be.

Cheers.

Here's the fftw dependency, as a module: http://porteus-xfce.googlecode.com/file ... 6_64-1.xzm
here's lmms: http://porteus-xfce.googlecode.com/file ... -1_SBo.xzm

I've only compiled them on 64-bit, and with the fewest dependencies as possible, so some features will be missing. I don't use this program, so I prefer not to make decisions about configuration and which options are compiled in (when I tried pulseaudio a few months ago I wasn't even able to get it configured properly lol).

Thanks.

ErrorBox show up :
Can't find :

Code: Select all

/usr//usr/lib64/lmms/libtripleoscillator.so
/usr//usr/lib64/lmms/libzynaddsubfx.so
etc.
This means that it was may be :
1/ PREFIX= #issue
2/ dir2xzm issue.

Links below show that those are LMMS files :

Code: Select all

ls $(pwd)/lmms-0.4.13-x86_64-1_SBo/usr/lib64/lmms/libtripleoscillator.so
File exists...
So it is a PREFIX issue...

Could you fix this ?

Sorry for the late response here. I honestly have no idea what is causing this. As you pointed out, the binary is looking in /usr/usr/ for some strange reason. The compile flags look appropriate to me, and the libraries are placed in the right directory, it's just the binary that can't seem to find them. I messed around with symlinking a bit, but wasn't able to get it to work appropriately. I'm assuming it's an upstream bug or perhaps an issue with the slackbuild. This has been reported on other distros:
http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.ph ... 791.0;wap2
https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4511
http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.au ... s.user/603

Unfortunately, none of the links that report that the issues is resolved tell how to do it!

I've downloaded source code for the next oldest release (0.4.12) and a very recent development release (0.4.14-rc1) and I'll give them a shot to see if they work any better.
