Nero 4.0

Is it possible to get Nero 4.0.x to run with x86_64 xzm Porteus?

I presume, there is just a 32 bit Nero available?

Has anyone succeeded to get it to run?

Impossible. Nero is not Open Source or Free. It cannot be included to official repo.

Nero is proprietary software.

I don't mean it as an official repo, but I ask if it is possible to let it run with 64 bit Porteus without the need of huge 32 bit libraries, since Nero wants direct hardware access, me thinks...

Go to Nero Downloads and select a 64-bit DEBian Package and give them your email and push on Download Button.

After you should know..deb2xzm and slackyd -d -f nero

Thanks Hamza, will check that out.

What does slackyd do?

Got no info using slackyd --help, or man slackyd.

And at least running the 1.2rc1 x86-65 (XFCe version) fails:

Code: Select all

root@porteus:/mnt/DL# deb2xzm nerolinux-4.0.0.0b-x86_64.deb nerolinux-4.0.0.0b-x86_64.xzm
/usr/bin/deb2xzm: line 16: /usr/bin/ar: No such file or directory
Module creation failed!

Slackyd execute a test against Nero binaries to check if a dependency is missing and download it for Slackware if available.

About your ar issue. I am trying at this very moment to convert the nero debian package into xzm module and I don't get any errors related to ar. The only warning I get is "This package has not been made with makepkg".

Please check the bases modules md5sums and try in Always Fresh mode with root account.

Like I already wrote in the other thread: http://porteus.org/forum/viewtopic.php? ... 8417#p8388

Running 1.2rc1 x86-64 XFCe version, minus the 005-devel

Code: Select all

bash-4.1$ pwd
/mnt/live/memory/images
bash-4.1$ find . -name ar 2>/dev/null
./002-xorg-rava.xzm/usr/share/rdesktop/keymaps/ar
Nope, no ar in there. So, nothing could have overwritten it... But it might be in 005-devel. In my book, it should be NOT in there. :)

I noticed you had repacked your base modules. Please try with 005-devel and original Porteus modules.

Yup, I will load 005-devel and try again.

But it seems nero won't work, since someone (currently I cannot find the post/link to the post) stated that the current available nero binary complains about that the used key is outdated or such... :wall:

Change date time in BIOS and try to install it :)

I think I once read about a trick, using this enables you to trick just one program to believe it's running at a different BIOS / system time.

But I can't recall any details. Does anyone know about that?
