Zoom 5.9.3 is on the forums and I have that but it no longer works. Zoom says needs to be 5.10 or higher.

As it stands now there is no working Zoom for Porteus 5. And since you say:

to find the "undefined symbol" you need to install qt5-15.9 from slackware current.....and this leads you to a long chain of updates starting with libssl.so ,etc. etc.
In other words, it is better to start thinking of porteus 6.0 or whatever

Thanks Blaze and wread. I was unaware how many updates would be necessary. I may have to try another distro for Zoom meetings since 5.9 and lower are deactivated by Zoom and those are the ones that are listed in the Porteus Forum.

Blaze I tried in Always Fresh mode and the same results. I can activate the program and dependencies and they show up in the menu but when I select them, the program does not open up to the first screen asking for meeting number.

We already have the "official" qt5-base-5.15.3_20220318-x86_64-xfce-cinnamon-openbox-lxde-mate-gnome.xzm so that should work. Or not? Perhaps your slightly different Qt module does provide the missing

OK, maybe the Qt stuff bundled with zoom conflicts with system Qt, and the solution is to remove the bundled version and make zoom rely on the system Qt: https://www.linuxquestions.org/question ... ost6121443

zoom in its tarball ships also many qt5 libraries that conflict with eventual qt5 libraries already installed (at least here on slackware64-current): to have it working I had to switch to the directory where zoom is installed/unpacked and remove these files/directories

i have used the fresh mode so only the packages that need to load zoom are activated and are the slackware15 qt stock also the qt-web package and the xcb-utils i have used for zoom two packages one is the slackbuild version and other provided by arch and all work,if you use the blaze qt rename it like a regular package but the zoom-linux command do not work you have to use the other one zoomlauncher,ok try it

OK, we can move past those missing/mismatching libs at least:

1. Download the zoom binary package from https://zoom.us/download?os=linux by choosing "Other Linux OS" [tar (for Other Linux OS gcc 5.4+) Version 5.14.7 (2928) ]

2. Extract the archived zoom folder into /tmp and cd /tmp/zoom. Jump to Step 6.

3. Let's confirm previous errors:

Unfortunately "zoom started" is still wrong: looks like it exits straight away. There is no trace, no further error messages, no log, etc. Zoom doesn't like something about my system and won't tell me what. But at least we managed to actually run the binary I think.

Could someone do the steps above and try to run zoom on their system, not under root for example, etc., and maybe it'll work for you!?

UPDATE: found the log ~/.zoom/logs/zoom_stdout_stderr.log when I instead run

6. Steps 3~5 above are not actually needed. Just start ZoomLauncher instead, it'll find all bundled libs. When you see nothing happening look into ~/.zoom/logs/zoom_stdout_stderr.log:

Building zoom is not a problem -- one just downloads from the official site or AppImage. The problem is to make it run

groupadd root is the solution.

I tried that and I don't think it does anything. Here are some outputs.

Hi rych zoom do nothing as root account, do not start this is a try that i have done in a slackware system so i don't know if work on porteus in my system i login as root and if you try to use in terminal su guest /opt/zoom/ZoomLauncher the zoom software start so try if you have the same behavior
