EDE alternative?

Post#1 by n0ctilucient » 20 May 2018, 15:44

XFast is a fast ultra lightweight xlib based EDE (desktop environment) alternative...
(It's basically a desktop environment that does not use a Mesa dependent toolkit)

Site is...
Source is...

This package has not been adopted yet by ("slackonly" or)...
https://slakfinder.org
https://slackbuilds.org
https://pkgs.org

So far... I have not been able to successfully compile
this package with the following src2pkg conf...
see... Src2pkg.conf w/ "hardened" EXTRA_FLAGS

Thanx... in advance to anyone that is interested in sharing their precompiled package link.

If I were a gambling man, my money would be on you... :fine:

If you can fix the source code (tar) can you post a copy so I can compile
the source w/ optimization and security hardening using src2pkg?

It's written in C so it's vulnerable to ret2libc exploits.

Excuse me David, but I thought I had already answered this question!
The author should update the file "images_png.c" to fit the new version of libpng.so.15, I think. I guess there are more errors of this type...

See if you can contact him!

**typo... " Revision (writing) "
(first thread post is censored)

The XFast environment seems like Joe's Window Manager w/out Mesa (eg. w/out unsecure... glibc/Gtk bloated "eyecandy" dependency hell).

@ wread... this alternative has me stumped. If I could get this one done my derivative would be ready for prime-time.
see... Slim alternative?

No way, David!
The sources are too old to be compiled with Porteus 4.0!

Yep... the source looks orphaned. :wall:
I compiled 90% but I could not close the deal.
