Porteus

Looking for a gparted compatible module to porteus:
1) I went to slax:

I converted blaze module into a xzm. It does not work under porteus 32-bit.

2) Following one of Ahau's suggestion:

"You might try bringing in a slax module for gparted and converting that to a porteus lzm, or try to build the module off an older version of gparted (or compile it from source and only bring in the minimum deps for the compile). Falcony's module converted to xzm doesn't work either. I get the error message:
"The kernel is unable to re-read the partition tables on the following devices:
- /dev/sda"

3) In the meantime, I will try with slackyd -g gparted. Unless, someone proposes a gparted.xzm.

32 bit porteus base is a qt3 environment you can't use qt4 software,you have to do some trick with programs

when package is not working then run 'slackyd -d package_name' to find missing deps. it's much faster than 'slackyd -d' which checks whole system (Ahau - this info could be added to the FAQ answer 31).

Good to know that we are talking about missing dependencies. Things are getting clearer.

Do you still needs GParted or Not ? I made a module of GParted with all deps included and ready to download

I sorted it out with fanthom suggestion: slackyd. However, I am sure that gparted will be appreciated in the 32-bit porteus module section, as no kde partition editor does
comet stock with that architecture.

You will need more deps than 20MB, I have already tried to megre the deps. But if you are using a dep, you will need another dep to use the previous dep.

After at a moment, you will need seamonkey libs... "Gparted" != "Seamonkey" but you needs them otherwise, it won't works properly!

It will downloads all deps and core packages of GParted. and I megred them and compressed them in one module (not recommended).

If I use or pkgs.org + It don't ask for same deps.
In this case, the first solution seem to be heavy and strange. Not only for asking for a web-browser, but for asking together QT and GTK.
whereas the second solution doesn't ask for many deps.

lately, I've become partial to using fdisk and mkfs instead of gparted or kde partition manager. For partitioning flash media, it helps to know which sector you are starting and stopping on.

There is too many dependencies for gparted, If you want to find out them yourself. You will be of the number of dependencies {directly/indirectly} related to GParted.
