TUXGUITAR

Hail,

Is there anybody out there have it working perfectly?
Presently I have a standalone version which does not require JAVA, JDK, ...etc but unfortunately it has no sound.
There are couple of solutions out there for ubuntu users like this,
http://followthegeeks.com/no-sound-in-t ... -solution/
but they were not useful for me unfortunately.

I almost forgot to present you TUXGUITAR:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TuxGuitar
Teach me a lesson, I would be really grateful.

There seems to be a tuxguitar slack.build for that package. :)

Just describe what you have done yet.

What are the slackware package that you have installed yet? Give us the links.

Ok. I have got it running on. I have no time this morning, but tonite, I will put it on mediafire for you. It was just a question of building the slack.build, installing openjdk and rebooting. 8)

I have build it for porteus 3.0 32 bit edition.

Dear Francoise,

Thanks for your attention and effort for helping me. :Rose:

I got this file:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/tuxguit ... n/download

Please notice that this file does not have java dependencies and all files are included somehow, indeed I moved the "tuxguitar-1.2-linux-x86-jet.run" to /opt/ and then on terminal executed: ./tuxguitar-1.2-linux-x86-jet.run
as a result, contents of the file was extracted to a folder with the same name of file. Inside this folder you'll find the tux.guitar and then you can execute it easily.

but the problem just begins once you want to test this program.
As the matter of fact this program gets some tablatures which are kind of notes and this program guide you to play them with an musical instrument.
once you begin to use a tablature like this one:
http://guitarprotabs.org/v/vai,_steve/f ... %29_19606/ (PLEASE PRESS DOWNLOAD TO DOWNLOAD THE TABLATURE)
and want to run it in tux guitar it plays them but there is NO SOUND AT ALL!!!

I googled about this issue and I had found this:
http://followthegeeks.com/no-sound-in-t ... -solution/

this solution just works for ubuntu as I got timidity too but timidity could not be used in tux.guitar at all :wall:

I think that I should not have used tuxguitar-1.2-linux-x86-jet.run from the beginning and java based version will have the sound.
Teach me a lesson, I would be really grateful.

We hope to keep you much happy with porteus. So you get to do the same to other newcomers eventually.
