Do you have a save.dat container or do you have linux partitions on the usb key?

It's exactly as you said.
It could be different in newer Win-version.My Win-knowledge ends at Win-XP...
But the Point is, no one has mentioned Windows in this thread.Or have I overlooked
something? (sometimes I read a little to fast)

Yes Sean, this is how windows reacts to a linux partition first up. I used to boot with the first partition as a FAT32 partition containing the 'boot' folder and the second partition as ext2 with the 'porteus' folder. This way if i was in windows and needed to save a file onto the USB for later use in Porteus I could drop it on the FAT32 partition.

Interestingly things are going backward for linux. I just purchased a new laptop which uses UEFI instead of the old school bios and in order to boot Porteus in this UEFI mode the first partition needs to be FAT32! Thanks to M$ for trying to control system vendors, I now have to battle with boot loaders to get a decent OS rolling, but that's for another thread.

Nice but too big. I tried this program rather KShowmail.
It is small and does not require additional dependencies.
