Pix Image Editor

Post#1 by johnywhy » 03 Sep 2018, 09:21

Or any simple, tiny image editor (cropping, resizing, etc. NOT a 'paint' program, with advanced brushes etc.

Pix is included in Mint, and it's great. It is 3 MB and powerful. https://github.com/linuxmint/pix

Mtpaint is another option. i converted on Porteus, but on run, it said:

Code: Select all

$ mtpaint
mtpaint: error while loading shared libraries: libjasper.so.1:cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
i downloaded libjasper from here, and tried to convert. Got:

Code: Select all

$ rpm2xzm libjasper1-1.900.13-alt2.i586.rpm
glibtop(c=11756): [DEBUG] open.c:53 glibtop_open_l(): SIZEOF: 40 - 65648 - 248 - 65624 - 224 - 65624
glibtop(c=11756): [DEBUG] open.c:163 glibtop_open_l(): Calling sysdeps open function.
glibtop(c=11756): [DEBUG] init.c:229 glibtop_init_s(): init_s with features=0x7ffffff and flags=0

Slackware package maker, version 3.1415927.

Searching for symbolic links:
usr/lib/libjasper.so.1	libjasper.so.1.0.0

Making symbolic link creation script:
( cd usr/lib ; rm -rf libjasper.so.1 )
( cd usr/lib ; ln -sf libjasper.so.1.0.0 libjasper.so.1 )

It is recommended that you make these lines your new installation script.

Would you like to make this stuff the install script for this package
and remove the symbolic links ([y]es, [n]o)? y

Removing symbolic links:
removed './usr/lib/libjasper.so.1'

Creating your new ./install/doinst.sh...

This next step is optional - you can set the directories in your package
to some sane permissions. If any of the directories in your package have
special permissions, then DO NOT reset them here!

Would you like to reset all directory permissions to 755 (drwxr-xr-x) and
directory ownerships to root.root ([y]es, [n]o)? n

Creating Slackware package:  /tmp/rpm2xzm11768/libjasper1-1.900.13-alt2.i586.txz

I've heard of Pinta, but that requires Mono, so it's not tiny.

Not looking for GIMP-- not tiny or simple.

pix converted(toxzm) from this rpm http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/ ... x86_64.rpm
seems to work ok.. no deps needed( on cinnamon at least)(well actually there are number of features missing due to missing libs, could be fixed, but it runs as is)

mtpaint: why rpms? you should really use slackware packages if they are available.
try system menu: USM (it can resolve most deps, it's a package manager and module creator)
or slakfinder.org
or duckduckgo: !pkgs <packagename>

try this one:
pix-1.8.2-1.fc29.i686.xzm 2.1mb
md5sum= 21226a05c221f5c9acd132115dfaf430

are you having trouble converting rpms in general or just some?

I used Porteus 4.0 Cinnamon with Firefox. Debian/Opera probably don't know what an xzm file is.

maybe your IP blocks mega.co.nz for some reason... trying with wget or curl might shed some light....
anyways here is an alternative link: Pix-1.8.2 image viewer/editor (box.com)
and here's mtpaint:
mtpaint-3.40 image editor
(which btw does not need jasper)
