I am trying to install XBMCbuntu from USB drive.

I am trying to make a bootable drive using Unetbootin

I downloaded the iso from here
I created a bootable drive but when I try to boot it, it just hangs on a black screen with a flashing cursor in the top left hand corner.

What am I doing wrong?

PS I can't update my existing set up as I can't remember the username and password

Please be a little clearer in your questions.

I am trying to install XBMCbuntu from USB drive.
You mean you already have a bootable XBMCbuntu USB drive that you booted from?

I am trying to make a bootable drive using Unetbootin
A USB drive? I don't understand.

I downloaded the iso from here
What ISO from where? If you mean Porteus ... have you already booted into Porteus?

I created a bootable drive but when I try to boot it, it just hangs on a black screen with a flashing cursor in the top left hand corner.
Do you mean Porteus or XBMCbuntu?

Please explain your problem step by step and include the following information:
Which version of Porteus are you using?
Have you successfully booted into Porteus?
Do you have XBMCbuntu on a USB drive already? If so what format is the file/files?

Bill Gates is a very rich man today... and do you want to know why? The answer is one word: versions
Damn ... we release new versions every couple of months ... how do we get rich?

Try using pendrivelinux. Pendrivelinux provides simplified information to make it easy for anyone to install, boot, and run their favorite Linux Distro from a portable flash drive. You can boot your OS through USB. To read more about this try looking here :http://www.techyv.com/questions/how-ins ... untu-linux
