Friend tossed me an early 1st-generation computestick with Windows 8.1 onboard. 2gb ram, 32gb emmc ..
Porteus v 4.0 64 bit booted fine from a passive 4-port hub shared with keyboard and mouse. No wireless or audio. A little work will get those up, or just use something hanging off a 4-port usb hub that does....
Basically turned off secure-boot.
Changed boot order from Windows 8.1 32 bit to Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64 bit in drop-down menu.
Porteus boots immediately from usb hub from a usb stick. Doesn't know it's not Ubuntu.
Note: even though I upgraded the 4 year old bios to the latest 4/2019, I still have to use this cheatcode on this little early Atom cpu:
intel_idle.max_cstate=1
Saved a little computer that was about to be trashed with Porteus!
