I recently ordered a Lenovo x200 ThinkPad.
I used this service to provision it with Libreboot ...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/232179148578?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT
Although I'm satisfied with the service...
Libreboot does not boot from non-Grub2 "external" media without additional support.
(eg... secure firmware devices @ https://www.kanguru.com/storage-accesso ... ries.shtml )
I got lucky though... because my netbook
has a dock that uses an "internal" DVD.
Now I have trusted firmware on a device with secure
hardware (no post 2009 OEM backdoors).
Perhaps... I can now move forward on some projects that I put off.

Re: Libreboot
Are you saying you can't boot Porteus with Libreboot , Have you tried a CD/DVD disk?

Libreboot
Libreboot is compiled with Grub2 (payload) support.
It can only boot media that supports Grub2.
Libreboot requires SeaBIOS support to boot from
non-Grub2 "external" media (eg... CD/DVD).
Basically... Libreboot has to be compiled with SeaBIOS.
For my next project I want to do a mITX Libreboot using this case...
