Linksys AE2500 and Edimax EW-7811Un

I'm have a USB Linksys AE2500. My question is will it work with Porteus or Linux? If not what USB wireless will? I do have 50 foot of cat5 cable I could use.

Jack, unless someone who is currently using the exactly same device + version will do;
no definite answer can be given.
There may be different incorporated chipsets while the device name remains the same
To gather some information i would try google with searchterms like:
"Linksys AE2500" + linux
"Linksys AE2500" site:wikidevi.com
What definitely works are usb-wifi with the Atheros 9271 chipset.
I have a TP-Link TL-WN721N...but only v1 has the right chipset, v2,3,4 are entirely
different.

Thanks, I look in to TP-Link TL-WN721N v1.0 on ebay. Is it a "N" type?

If possible, check the device ID before buying, to be sure not to order a wrong one.

Whit no luck finding one yet. For now I will use a 50 foot (15.24 meter) cat5 cable which I have.

I think I found a USB WiFi and it is this Belkin N300 Wireless USB Adapter.

I rebooted and everything is good to go. Now my HP dc5750 Small Form Factor is now WiFi.
