Laptop Model Name:Asus N61J ... core i7 4gb ram
ISO version:1.x through 3.x
Comment:ATI Radeon Mobility 5730 graphics works with propriety driver up to porteus 2.1
after that(3.x ) open source x11 Radeon driver is needed.
to get better temperature performance i put:

Code: Select all

echo battery > /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_dpm_state
in /etc/rc.d/rc.local
EDIT BIOS entry = F2
Boot menu = ESC
is UEFI(first gen) capable but i've never used it

Thanks guys! Which buttons do you press to enter BIOS/UEFI configuration, and what changes do you do there?

I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.

Great! What BIOS/UEFI settings did you change, and how? A per-button and per-menu description is very interesting to me! :)

The Thinkpad T-520 (it is from year 2012) is not my own, for this reason i can not detailed answer in this case but i have
disable UEFI and i was used the Legacy mode.

On T-61 (it is from year 2008 with BIOS) i do not have make any special changes.
But attention it exist a Anti-theft entry if it is enabled then you can not disable (Anti-theft of course)
In combination with Windows Lenovo install a dll which makes a remote access to your Laptop.
At me it was complett removed from BIOS. These final adjustment is possible in Anti-theft entry.

Fujitsu P702, Fujitsu ScrollWheel and additional keys next to power button don't work, after resuming from suspend system may crash, the rest works good. Bios keys: F2, F12.
You have mind and feelings. Be wise and clever.

Saved!

Have found that problems with booting on older Macbook Pro laptops hinders us from taking Porteus into wide usage. I've thought about including rEFInd and its setup scripts on the live image. Would this be a good idea? Have someone here done it before?

Dell Inspiron 1525 works. It also works with x86_64 Mate that's how I check it.

F2 = Bios Setting
F12 = Boot Menu
