Here you can post about your various experiences with PC hardware. You can also post about hardware that is not compatible with the linux kernel or not recommended for use with Porteus.

GPU hangs Lenovo G40

Post#1 by Slaxmax » 18 Feb 2016, 00:13

My laptop stop in porteus loading screen (porteus 3.17.4 i486). I compiled the last xf86-intel driver and start GUI.
But I have random crashes. For example when using the browser random processor is at 100% and stops the PC.

My laptor have 2 GPUs
Intel HD Graphics 5500 and ATI R5 M230

Not show any error in dmesg relative to GPU.

Thanks
I had already read about it
But the bigger problem is GPU hangs randomly.
I tried a new kernel, , but the error persists

Driver bugs, kernel bug?
I Don't know how to fix it

Edit: I compiled the latest xf86-intel snapshot, the X works better now. Not perfect but more stable.

If you have intel gpu and problems to start graphic interface
Try use this driver xf86-intel converted from official slackware repo.

porteus 32bit
http://www.mediafire.com/download/donth ... i586-1.xzm
porteus 64bit
http://www.mediafire.com/download/a48mo ... 6_64-1.xzm

Copy this module 32 or 64bit to porteus base folder
