Post#1 by kalo86 » 05 Dec 2015, 15:40

Hello guys,

I'm trying to boot Porteus v3.1 64bit on my new machine HP Spectre x360 but at the early boot process, after loading the .xzm modules I see a message of error:

Is there someone who can help me please?
Thank you in advance,

Hello people,

Is there someone who may share an update kernel module? I think the boot issue is due to an old kernel...
Thank you,

Hello,
I'm sad to say that with the new kernel (I tested both 4.2.6 and 4.3.0 versions) Porteus v3.1 does not want to boot on my HP laptop... :wall:
I don't want to boot Ubuntu (yes, it's the only one which is able to boot at the moment).
I do like only Porteus and/or similar Live OS because I use this one since old times (I was a Slax user, then Slax-Remix, now Porteus!).
What can I do?
I tried to boot also in text mode with no success (I tried also LxQt and KDE graphical desktops with no success).
Any help is much appreciated.
Regards,

Is your machine a UEFI machine? If so did you change the BIOS to boot in Legacy mode?

Hi,

My machine has a UEFI BIOS.
I just tried to disable the secure boot option and also activated the legacy boot.
I have no problems on booting from USB devices since I'm able to see the refind.conf screen where I can choose the boot entry menu of Porteus.
The problem is during the loading (please see the first message of this topic, I uploaded a picture with the error message).

UPDATE: I can boot with success only Nemesis (only tested the latest beta version) and Ubuntu.
This demonstrates that the issue is due to old kernel and/or packages of Porteus v3.1. My new HP laptop has a new i5 6200, soldered RAM, M.2 SSD and maybe one of the most recent integrated graphic card. Nemesis has a new kernel with recent packages and I am able to boot every time! Pity for me that I don't know Arch Linux system... :unknown:
