Too CPU intensive video playback

New features which should be implemented in Porteus; suggestions are welcome. All questions or problems with testing releases (alpha, beta, or rc) should go in their relevant thread here, rather than the Bug Reports section.

Too CPU intensive video playback

Post#1 by postcd » 23 Sep 2017, 08:24

Hello,

i have old Pentium M 1.6GHz CPU with Porteus 3.2.2 XFCE booted and all video files are jerky/torn (do not know right english word, simply do not play fluently by any means) and the CPU is exhausted (98%+). I think the main CPU process is xorg. When i play same video on Kali Linux (live), the CPU usage is something like 20% and main process is "mpv" which is player. On Porteus i played with MPlayer Gnome and tried also others, but the same result. I had also xUbuntu on this PC and playback was also good. But not on Porteus.
