Hi Blaze,
I use 07-printing-x86_64-2022-07-02.xzm.
It works for me.
Why should I use 07-printing-x86_64-2023-02-04.xzm now?

Hi roro.
If all works fine I don't see any reason to use a new printing module.
BTW what model of printer do you use?

Thanks.

Hi Noradavis.
Why you don't use Porteus 5.0 release?
What model of printer do you use?

Thanks for feedback.

Printing and scanning for Porteus

Post#56 by itrukrakso » 13 Aug 2023, 18:35

Hi,
@Blaze: thank you for your faithful and constant work on this module.
I used it for a long time, but at some point I built it myself for my Canon devices.
Still, one question: why is there GIMP in your module?
It is not mandatory for a printer and scan module needed.
Apart from the fact that some users may not use it, updates and adjustments
would be better off in a separate module (which the user would have to create himself).

Thanks

It's not full GIMP, only libs from GIMP - needs for scanning.

I can separate module for printing and scanning, but no reason for this coz it's for home and office using too.
I use bouth printing and scanning.

Ok,i didn't look that closely at the module, i only came up with it because gimp
is in the /var/log/package directory and because of

Code: Select all

pkginfo -w gimp

 Package: gimp-2.10.30-x86_64-2
 located in Module: 07-printing-x86_64-2023-08-13.xzm
I myself use 2 older devices Canon ip4700 and Lide 60.
For scanning I use a license from vuescan, because I was not satisfied with xsane.

Thanks

Hello blaze. This is a thread from 2017. Are the packages proposed in your first post good for porteus 5.x?

Thanks.
