Porteus v3.2rc2 FAQ and wishlist

Where is KDE4?
The decision was made to go with kde5 as it seems relatively stable. It is a little large but that should improve over time as the transition to an exclusive qt5 and kde5 environment is made. At the moment there is a mix of kde4/kde5.
Where is lxqt?
The decision was made to leave lxqt out of the rc2 release until a suitable network management can be integrated with a usable panel icon.
Why is it bigger than the last release?
A more complete firmware set was added meaning a wider cross section of users will have better compatibility with new hardware. The base modules are larger than the previous release because we wanted better compatibility across the board with third party packages. If you are looking for a super lightweight, secure and customizable environment, please take a look at Porteus Kiosk.
What is new?
Updates of browsers can now be performed from a root console:
update-chrome (64bit only)
update-firefox
update-opera
update-palemoon
Please use these to update your browser as they integrate the duckduckgo default search engine which helps Porteus financially.
Office apps can also be updated in this way:
update-libreoffice
update-wps-office
What's next?
An option to update Porteus will be added in the final release. It will check for base module updates and security patches. This will pave the way for a slackware-current version of Porteus that can be incrementally updated.
