systemd...
I wait till systemd has included its own kernel.

BTW:I really don't like to be routed via webwarper by every link you provide.
(even from one forum thread to another)

Not too long ago tracked down 20 debs and 5 others on pkgs.org. Since then been beavering away at a little backburner project to ease the pain. Could sure use your feedback when I'm able to present it in the next week or so, hopefully. :unknown:
P.S. Also met same glibc when tracking gtk3 dependencies in Arch, just to see if differed from gtk+3.

What I was trying to say is:
It's OK when you're using webwarper, but the (dozen of) links you posted have that prefix too, why?
Such a link redirects me (and anyone else) to webwarper first, before accessing the real destination.
I took a short look at their privacy-terms, what they are collecting and who they are
source:
http://algart.net/wwgz/priv.htm

Therefore, thanks, but no thanks ...

--> obsessed with bandwidth <--- still using a 56K-Modem??..

Donald don't dbl click on the links, RIGHT click on them and choose Copy. Paste them into the URL box and delete the webwarper.net part.

webwarper.net/ww/~av/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colossus:_The_Forbin_Project

becomes

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colossus:_The_Forbin_Project

A PITA when there is a lot of them but easy to do.

Hi Ed
Nice to see that you also know how to do that.
In general, (not related to webwarper only),"opt out" something is the wrong
approach.
"you can opt out" is the way people are tricked.Oh,you have overlooked that
you can '"opt out" the new fancy Toolbar..sorry,your fault...
What I mean is:
Give the direct link and don't send me to a "man in the middle".
Otherwise it will be your turn to find out who the "man in the middle" is and what he does.

regarding webwarper, did you read the privacy policy?,do you agree with that?..
Hmmm...maybe I have a different point of view what security/privacy means.
Let's leave it at that..

hihihi..if I am already being called a troll,then:

I didn't say or even thought, that you were trying to trick me...
(nor do I believe you can)
This should be obvious because of the Words "in general" and "not related to",not?
The Question was,why this kind of links?... you didn't give a satisfactory reply.
But you are right, this is your thread...and I'm tired of this debate.
again..Let's leave it at that.
I bid you peace, serenity, happiness and prosperity

...what a funny day...

What linux like distro would you say offers the least problems with dependency resolution? .... from real world experience

From what little experience gained, Arch has my vote, followed by Ubuntu. 8)

Donald, everybody knows that you are not a troll. In fact, your advices a pretty much appreciated on the forum. How come you never offered yourself as a mediator for the porteus forum? You are doing such a good job.

A fully blown slackware install has very few troubles with deps in my experience, but the package database is somewhat limited. IMHO gentoo has by far the best dependency resolution and packaging tools. I am thinking of making a porteus lxde version (with systemd) so people can actually try out systemd and get to know it before passing judgements. I see many people against it, that have probably not even taken the time to use it. I find it very useable, if not a little bloated.

Thanks francois. :friends:
When I first came here I made a (CRDA)-Module request and it took (IIRC) less
than 2 hr to get it.(thanks Hamza). This was unusual (to me) and impressive.
This was one of many reasons to stay here and to try to give something back to the community.
This is why I decided to help other people to solve some Linux riddles.
But the truth is, if you want me to be responsible for something, or being bound to something, then I have to say no thanks.

All of you got my respect for keeping porteus alive.
I'm counting on you guys...

Everything works well here in Montreal with usm, including slackware database. :)
