@tmoulder
If I understand correctly, you have moved all your work to a Beta Distribution?
For starters have not been able to boot Freya from hdd. Luna, though, seemed to run ok until during a file download Midori gobbled up all my memory plus another 250 MB of swap space -> page thrashing. Using
ps -e came across process
Pantheon Files, which I presume means I was experiencing Pantheon DE.
After freeing up more memory Midori could continue download process, but instead did nothing. Download must have timed out, but Midori issued no such message. Downloading anew, Midori did not resume unfinshed download, but asked to replace file. Instead of deleting 600 MB incomplete file it complained that there was no space left for download.
Mind you this was state a year ago, but could be different now. Also found the horizontal and vertical scrolling on Midori a bit of a headache.
No need for flash plugin. Midori played videos, from YT like site, out-of -the-box. The choice of extensions/addons seemed very limited however.
Movie player out-of-box would not play as had no codecs.
/cow was already at 28% of used space, and after
apt-get at 58 %.
(Suppose distro has small footprint because there is nothing there!) Movie played well, picture was surprisingly pleasing to the eye, and I was left with the impression that sound volume could be turned up considerably more than on Porteus. (Mint also seems to give more volume)
Lastly
Scratch was not that impressive. File manager could not be explicitly invoked. Clicking on a file in file manager, invoked Scratch which then informed that file could not be saved and gave option of saving somewhere else. Chose current directory and got no further. File did not appear for editing.
