Hi.
I like very much Porteus. I am trying to use in a old DELL D610 adopting a WiFi card Intel 2200BG.
Porteus version 4.16.3 comes from the iso Porteus-LXQT-v4.0-i586.iso (but the issue happen also for different wm).
WiFi interface is not available.
It is well recognized
03:03.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2200BG [Calexico2] Network Connection (rev 05)
Subsystem: Intel Corporation Dell Latitude D600
Flags: medium devsel, IRQ 17
Memory at dfbff000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable)
Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version 2
Kernel modules: ipw2200
But in the log it fails the load
Syslog
Oct 3 21:01:23 porteus kernel: [ 16.972281] ipw2200 0000:03:03.0: Direct firmware load for ipw2200-bss.fw failed with error -2
Oct 3 21:01:23 porteus kernel: [ 16.972284] ipw2200: ipw2200-bss.fw request_firmware failed: Reason -2
Oct 3 21:01:23 porteus kernel: [ 16.972285] ipw2200: Unable to load firmware: -2
Oct 3 21:01:23 porteus kernel: [ 16.972411] ipw2200: probe of 0000:03:03.0 failed with error -5
ls -R /lib/modules
/lib/modules/4.16.3-porteus/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/intel/ipw2x00:
ipw2100.ko
ipw2200.ko
libipw.ko
It is available the complete log.
Any suggestion?
I see this post from 2017, may help me too ? Just starting - Trouble with wifi pointing to this package:
ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/slackware64-14.2/slackware64/a/kernel-firmware-20160628git-noarch-1.txz
I saw in a debian wiki wiki.debian.org/ipw2200 that it is suggested to install a different driver:
"Non-free firmware is required for both drivers, which can be provided by installing the firmware-ipw2x00 package."
Exist a similar chance also for Porteus?
Thanks for the help.
Giorgio
