HPPrinting for Porteus V1.0 32-bits

The thief broke into my office and stole a three years old HP-Printer. I tried to buy the same one to avoid installing new drivers, without success. But the new model didn't like the Porteus 0.9 packet that I had made; googling I learned I needed the last version of hplip and all the accompanying (bumped versions) libraries and aux programs. I made them for Porteus V.10 beta, 32-bits. They are xzm-modules.

With patience and no panic I started once more to run that errand. The files can be downloaded from this link

Enjoy! :D

Appreciated. Your persistence and patience has produced a module that will no doubt come in handy.

@Wread:

1) This trial was done on my HP pavilion 2713ca laptop and its printer companion the HP laserjet 3030.

Trying the modules proposed in you post under my 32-bit Porteus v 1.0 system, I get some kind of window opening and closing very fast (one flash) when I use the hp manager utility. It does not work for me.

I will have to investigate the matter more deeply to understand what is going on. I will report later.

2) This trial was done on my MSI 340X laptop and the HP laserjet 3030 printer. Installing the 14 proposed modules including hplip for Porteus v 1.0 system, everything works fine. At last, I can use printer function under Porteus. This is great.

@francois
I usually print with System>Manage Printing (Cups Administration) without problems. The HP printing script seems to have problems with me too.

I am glad the HPPrinting modules work for you, francois. :beer:

Regards!

Adding some modules I get an error from CUPS. It is no more possible for me to print under Porteus. I will try to find the conflicting module and report.

In addition, my efforts to get a brother printer to function under cups have not been productive.

It is possible that gutenprint, ghostscript and ghoscript-fonts can do the job as good as hplip :shock: . See Blablotin and cttan for respectively their HP Deskjet 930C and Canon MP145:

What do you think? :o

Hmmm..., I tried to print with the new versions of Porteus and my printer stood still...., I will update this package!

I will report my results here.

EDIT: My HPPrinter "package" prints ok with KDE-4-32 bits :Yahoo!:

Good news. However, did you tried the gutenprint-ghostprint solution?

It works with my hp laserjet 3030, and should work for most hp printers.

I will give it a try; most interesting if it works with different makes of printers...Thanks for the tip!

Would you have a module integrating these hplip packages altogether?

Hello wread.

As you have read in another thread, I am presently working on printer issues. I have a few questions for you:

Do you work with your hplip system on porteus 2.0?

Does it work both for 32 bit and 64 bit?

How do you access scanning interface without the hplip interface?

Have you been able to get the hplip interface to work finally?

If not, are you sure that the additional dependencies you provide really make a difference as the hplip interface does not work? I do not have a hp printer, but with the CUPS interface and hplip package alone without the other dependencies you provide, I seem to have access to the hpprinter database, thus I imagine I could be able to install hp printers without these. Did you test this?

Thanks. :)
