Audacity for Porteus

Post#1 by wread » 07 Nov 2014, 12:05

Audacity is a free multiplatform audio editor and recorder. It looks like so:

If you are an audio fan, you will enjoy this download. It uses wxGTK-2.8.12 included in the link.

Cheers!

Edit: libffi added to the link for those that don't have it included in the system :)

Porteus is proud of the FASTEST KDE ever made.....(take akonadi, nepomuk and soprano out and you will have a decent OS).

Doesn't run on xfce. Please stipulate which desktop you create modules for. This will help anyone wanting to create bundles for a desktop, or just save their time from downloading something that was never going to work. Thanks wread.

Code: Select all

audacity: error while loading shared libraries: libffi.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Anyone wanting to create bundles from wread's great modules can simply load the module, then start the application from a terminal and watch the error output.

For example in the above error message I would put into usm: usm -s libffi.so.5
How do i become super user?

@brokenman: thanks for your observation.
My system has libffi built in, so it doesn't complain about missing dependencies.

Libffi is a mini module that can be downloaded from here.

I will include it in the former link to audacity...

Enjoy! :)

I was sort of able to get my install to run version 2.0.5 but the mic input is very low and the audacity input level control refers me to "alsamixer" which does not seem to be on my system. Another irksome thing is not having Audacity listed in my Multimedia Application Menu. Same goes for my Firefox install, the web browser command starts it but it's not on my internet menu.
