Gens-GS emulator module for Porteus 3.0 (i486)

Post#1 by JosepZ » 30 Jul 2014, 16:33

Gens/Gs. Sega MegaDrive/Genesis emulator for Porteus 3.0 32-bit.
Here it is: http://www.filehosting.org/file/details ... 7_i386.xzm

I recommend NOT to use the Slackware package they offer at Sega Retro. Didn't render icons and got clunky scrolling, among other weird behaviors. I used the .deb package to create this module. Worked in every machine I tried. Of course you can also build from source, but this just works.

Here's some advice on proper settings:

Backend: SDL + OpenGL
OpenGL linear filter: ON (blurs image a bit, but it looks closer to original hardware IMO).
Bits per pixel: 32 (or you may get clunky gameplay).
Frame skip: Auto
Sound rate: 44,100 Hz (or it'll sound like sh*t).
YM2612 improved: ON (sounds closer to original console)

...and I can see people blaming me for stalling Porteus's development. :D
