lxde

Good morning:

I appreciate the decision to go with razor-qt as the default desktop environment for 2.0 32 bit. Unfortunately, I do not currently have time to work through the details of configuring razor to my liking. Until I am able to do so, I am stuck at porteus 1.2 in which I have lxde configured as required. My question: has any one created an lxde module for version 2.0? If there is one already, my apologies, but I was not able to find it.

Thanks and best regards,

hi sci_fi,

Please take a look at this module, which brokenman prepared: http://dl.porteus.org/i486/packages/003-lxde.xzm

There's a little background information here: http://forum.porteus.org/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=1872

It's likely that I'll be maintaining the LXDE module for both i486 and x86_64 (and ARM as well, if it gets adopted as official somehow) starting with version 2.1, so if you run into some issues with that module let me know and I'll get my rear in gear and help troubleshoot.

I'll take a look this afternoon and see if I can recreate the issue. I do have a module with the icons there, but if they are included in the module (I didn't build it but they ought to be in there), it's likely that you're booting with only base modules (001-008) and no modules inside the /modules folder. In this case, your icon caches aren't rebuilt on boot-up because porteus expects all the caches to be up to date. Move 003-lxde to /modules/lxde.xzm and reboot, it should rebuild those caches and the icons should show up.

Hope that helps, let me know if not.

Ok, it doesn't appear to be an issue with the caches, the module that was posted doesn't have the icons present. Here's a module with just the icons:

http://porteus-xfce.googlecode.com/file ... h-1ftm.xzm

download it and save it on your boot device, inside /porteus/modules. Thanks!
