Midori 9.0 browser (WebKitGtk 2.34.1)

Post#1 by fulalas » 19 Nov 2021, 07:40

Midori is just a simple shell for WebKitGtk, which is the real render behind it. That's why looking for a newer Midori doesn't mean much (especially after it was bought by a company that changed its engine to Electron... )

This xzm module was built using the latest WebKitGtk version, also including all required dependencies (considering RC3). I finally managed to make it work on YouTube :celebrate3:

Hi fulalas,
I am using RC3 Xfce (003-xfce-4.12-20211115.xzm)
Midori doesn't work:

Code: Select all

guest@porteus:~$ midori
midori: /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.29' not found (required by /usr/lib64/libwebkit2gtk-4.0.so.37)

Hi fulalas,
I also use Midori under Porteus 4.0
With these additional library programs, midori-9.0 works for me on Porteus 4.0 Xfce :

glib-networking-2.46.1-x86_64-1.txz
gsettings-desktop-schemas-3.18.1-x86_64-1.txz
brotli-1.0.5-x86_64-1_slonly.txz
gobject-introspection-1.46.0-x86_64-1.txz
gst-plugins-base-1.6.4-x86_64-1.txz
gstreamer-1.6.4-x86_64-1.txz
hyphen-2.8.8-x86_64-1ponce.txz
icu4c-56.1-x86_64-2.txz
json-glib-1.2.8-x86_64-1_slonly.txz
libpeas-1.16.0-x86_64-1_slonly.txz
libvisual-0.4.0-x86_64-3.txz
webkit2gtk-2.20.3-x86_64-1_slonly.txz
woff2-1.0.2-x86_64-1ponce.txz

But videos won't play.
What is missing?

Thanks beny,
I have never used sbopkg.
Seems complicated.
What is xdg-dbus-proxy, what is it used for?

Hello donald
I have now also activated:
gst-libav-1.19.3.xzm, gst-plugins-base-1.19.3.xzm, gst-plugins-good-1.19.3.xzm
But it still doesn't work on Porteus 4.0 Xfce
So it's complicated.
But fulalas made it only for 5.0

Hi beny,
thanks for the information.
It works with older versions:
gst-libav-1.6.3-x86_64-1gv.xzm
gst-plugins-base-1.6.4-x86_64-1.xzm
gst-plugins-good-1.6.4-x86_64-1.xzm
