I had to update the module that was causing problems when starting with Porteus. Now I cleaned it up, and suppressed the bug of a missing library

Now you can download it again

Where did you find this code?
Until today I didn't use the md5sum.

If for example we use usm the md5sum are automatically checked?

This module is a compilation of several libraries

You create it by yourself. man md5sum gives you the info.

No, you have to check the md5sum yourself, but you need the md5sum for the given file (could be any file, not just xzm module files) to check if the given md5sum is the same than the file you just downloaded.

Downloading corruption is rare, but still could happen. md5sum then shows that a possible activate error is most likely because of a corrupt download.
You are always on the safe side when you provide md5sum when you upload module(s). :)
Cheers!
Yours Rava

usage of md5sum could not be simpler:

Code: Select all

$ md5sum random-file
d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e  random-file
or full path:

Code: Select all

$ md5sum /tmp/random-file
d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e  /tmp/random-file
or if you wanted to use something more secure(or just "finer grained") use sha256sum:

Code: Select all

$ sha256sum /tmp/random-file
e3b0c44298fc1c149afbf4c8996fb92427ae41e4649b934ca495991b7852b855  /tmp/random-file

or use both sha256sum and md5sum, it is then up to the user to choose the more secure one or the known broken one (md5sum). :)
And then there is also sha512sum & sha384sum :D
(sha512sum should be the most secure. Even palemoon.org uses "only" SHA-256 and PGP.

While PGP is the best when it comes to security, is is hard to handle for a new beginner.You have to set it up and then use the same setup… Not even remotely as easy to be used like md5sum or sha256sum is, as ncmprhnsbl displayed above). Unless you need it e.g. for Email, not bother with PGP for software distribution purposes. Use SHA-256 instead.
Cheers!
Yours Rava

This is office utility (abiword 3.0.2 & Gnumeric 1.12.34) for Porteus 5.0rc3 64bit;
that was created from
abiword package of Slackware (abiword-3.0.2-x86_64-4dj.txz)
gnumeric package of Slackware (gnumeric-1.12.34-x86_64-1dj.txz)
and
dependency libraries which are from ArchLinux packages.

office-slk_arch-x86_64.xzm (32 M)
https://www.mediafire.com/file/ov1n6uux ... x86_64.xzm
md5sum: 6b707fcccc9d44623cdee28e2881c8f9 office-slk_arch-x86_64.xzm

This module includes multi languages.

Thanks.

No, you have to check the md5sum yourself
in fact, it seems that usm is looking for the files (CHECKSUMS.md5 or CHECKSUMS.md5.gz) on the servers, so it has to use them.... and "CHECKMD5=on" is a default option of slpkg

I made an update of the module: adding the packages that were not installed by USM but that were requested by SLPKG.
I also upgraded "goffice" which solved a bug with the cell selection

I had also added a library that was missing at the start of Porteus 5.0rc3

The detail of the included packages is put in the first message

I hope the printing works (I can't check)
