Hi evergreen,
question about vivaldi-codecs-ffmpeg-extra-73.0.3683.86-x86_64-1_SBo.xzm:
How to create such a module (additional codecs) for Opera?

Hi Kulle, I generated that package with Sbopkg and it's part of Google Chrome. So probably it's compatible as well as with Opera Browser.

Hi evergreen,
inside vivaldi-codecs-ffmpeg...xzm (via xzm2dir)
(1) libffmpeg.so 3,1 MiB
inside Opera
(2) libffmpeg.so 1,7 MiB
I replaced (2) with (1)
That worked. Many Thanks.

vivaldi-codecs-ffmpeg it's an extra and part of Chromium Browser, I feel it's important to mention this because I previously made the mistake of saying it's from Chrome.
I have looked at the Sbopkg manager source, BTW it's very easy to make packages from there. So anyone could update it if I dont do it at time. anyway I will be here and keep it
Cheers guys!

Two questions: 1. Once activated how does one start the browser? It's not in the menu. 2. If both modules are required why not combine them into one?

Hi evergreen,
a)
There is a newer version 2.9.1705.31
downloaded from https://vivaldi.com/de/download/ and deb2xzm
I use vivaldi-stable_2.9.1705.31-1_amd64.xzm + vivaldi-codecs-ffmpeg-extra-77.0.3865.90-x86_64-1_SBo.xzm
But HTML5 Proprietary Media (H.264/AAC) is not supported.
The test for it:
https://help.vivaldi.com/wp-content/upl ... ss.mp4?_=1
b)
I use vivaldi-2.8.1664.44-x86_64-1_SBo.xzm + vivaldi-codecs-ffmpeg-extra-77.0.3865.90-x86_64-1_SBo.xzm
Now is supported HTML5 Proprietary Media.
Why this difference between a) and b) ?

Hello Kulle,
Here is the main information of my build, there is not differences it is just about updates
https://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.2 ... k/vivaldi/
https://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.2 ... peg-extra/
I think that newer Vivaldi 2.9.1705.31 is not supporting the actual chromium-codecs-ffmpeg.
So option (b) Is not with the latest Vivaldi but it is efficient

Maybe I am a little dictator but you are right on a side, on the other side some people dont need it and some people need to have H.264/AAC supporting and I didnt explain what is the reason to have an extra module, thanks for the observation.

Hi evergreen,
this script will find the latest Vivaldi binary package, download it and repackage it into Slackware format:
https://gist.github.com/ruario/dcbba70d ... 3542ff7ace
I tried it. It works well.
