Pix is an image viewer and simple editor
https://github.com/linuxmint/pix that works in Cinnamon
this module is missing some optional dependencies(run it from a terminal and you'll get the idea) but basic viewing and editing works okay.
pix-1.8.2-1.fc28.x86_64.xzm 2.0 MB
md5sum: 6d550fd67bf7cb4a61ba8243975d2245
converted from a fedora rpm..
and this one for other DEs:
pix-1.8.2-1.fc28.x86_64+deps.xzm 7.6MB
md5sum: fe55544ea732c90b28227286f51dc54a
with these added deps:
Code: Select all
clutter-1.14.6-x86_64-1dj.txz
clutter-gtk-1.4.4-x86_64-1dj.txz
cogl-1.16.2-x86_64-1dj.txz
cogl-1.22.2-x86_64-2_csb.txz
gstreamer-1.14.2-x86_64-1.txz
exiv2-0.26-x86_64-3.txz

I don't see the editing options.
they very basic, just resize, rotate, format conversion .... pretty rubbish really
EDIT: if you click the icon on the far right(looks like landscape, not the eye) the editing functions appear(color adjustment, crop, etc)

Hi ncmprhnsbl,
Using pix-1.8.2-1.fc28.x86_64+deps.xzm under Xfce:
Code: Select all
guest@porteus:~$ pix
pix: error while loading shared libraries: libjson-glib-1.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Using usm:
Code: Select all
...
libjson-glib-1.0.so.0 was found in json-glib-1.2.8-x86_64-1_slonly.txz
...
Creating /tmp/usm/json-glib-1.2.8-x86_64-1_slonly.xzm
But no success:
Code: Select all
guest@porteus:~$ pix
(pix:3971): Gtk-WARNING **: 08:20:15.811: Failed to register client: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod: Method "RegisterClient" with signature "ss" on interface "org.xfce.Session.Manager" doesn't exist
(pix:3971): GLib-GIO-ERROR **: 08:20:15.860: Settings schema 'org.gnome.desktop.background' is not installed
What can I do?
Is pix recommended?
I am looking for a program with very simple, intuitive operation.

looks like i didn't test very thoroughly
so, yes, for xfce you'll need json-glib and
gsettings-desktop-schemas
(there are other things it will complain about but should run and do most things)

It works, if I activate all three:
pix-1.8.2-1.fc28.x86_64+deps.xzm
json-glib-1.2.8-x86_64-1_slonly.xzm
gsettings-desktop-schemas-3.32.0-x86_64-2.xzm
Thank you.
But is pix recommended??

For viewing and some basic editing like turning and cropping, you can use viewnior,
I prefer it over all the other image viewers. And it is mainly that, an image viewer. Seems it is not uploaded as module on the forum since no one ever showed any interest in it but me.
More info here:

If you want a more complete lightweight graphics editor, I recommend mtpaint. It is very small, 618496 bytes only, for the x86-64 module. (That is my minimal module, cause I already have openjpeg lib in my system, the module ncmprhnsbl created, see below, added this as dependecy.)
Or you use the one by ncmprhnsbl with 1.1MB here:
