Kile is an IDE for the Tex family of editors.
LaTex is top of the line editor, used mainly by scientific journals, specially suited to edit mathematical formulas etc. Tex will be written as source files and then compiled to get it formatted. With an IDE you can write/compile and see the result of your composition paragraph by paragraphs if you will. With Kile the learning curve for LaTex steeps fast! :Yahoo!:

Kile uses qt5 and I compiled it for KDE5 Porteus.
Kile can be downloaded and put in "modules" if you use LaTex often, or in "optional" if you need it only occasionally, as I do. When you run the application the first time, it checks if all necessary applications are present. If you want to have them all, you will need texlive, imagemagick and ghostscript :o
