You cannot have the cake and eat it!
Not all the software that runs under KDE4 can run in LXDE...
Just add everything that lacks LXDE and you will have KDE4. Elemental, Watson!

Porteus is proud of the FASTEST KDE ever made.....(take akonadi, nepomuk and soprano out and you will have a decent OS).

Are you sure? VLC is a complex application. I doubt it can run in a simple DE without bigger surgical interventions ...

Alternative that should work on Porteus systems in any version and probably in future ones:
(PS:Correct me if I'm wrong.)
Displays the list of available commands:
Integrates appimage into the system by creating links from the applications:
AppImage applications are moved to the "~/Applications" directory
For other actions just run apprepo without parameter and it will list the available parameters.
(PS:Correct me if I'm wrong.)
Code: Select all
$ wget https://apprepo.de/appimage/download/apprepo --output-document=Apprepo.AppImage
$ chmod +x ./Apprepo.AppImage
Code: Select all
$ wget https://apprepo.de/appimage/download/vlc --output-document=VLC.AppImage
$ chmod +x ./VLC.AppImage
Code: Select all
$ ./Apprepo.AppImage
Code: Select all
$ ./Apprepo.AppImage integrate ~/Download/VLC.AppImage
For other actions just run apprepo without parameter and it will list the available parameters.

Hi PaulBy
The link https://www.dropbox.com/s/8a2elkrs5poc8 ... 6_64-1.xzm doesn't work
This message appears;
"That didn't work for some reason
If it's a fluke, it might work if you refresh the page. You can also ask us for help."

Hi manoelluiz007
I am still a newbie.
I now know what appimages are.
And VLC.Appimage works fine for me.
But what is Apprepo,Appimage
What is it needed for?

Seems for system integration:
but when applications are really moved to the "~/Applications" - that poses an issue since ~/Applications is on the RAM disk and when the user not uses changes= cheatcode, then the AppImage would be lost since the RAM disk is not permanent.manoelluiz007 wrote: ↑16 Oct 2022, 00:43Integrates appimage into the system by creating links from the applications:AppImage applications are moved to the "~/Applications" directoryCode: Select all

Added in 1 minute 20 seconds:
roro, when you get along with your AppImages without ever having used Apprepo.AppImage - do not bother with Apprepo.
Cheers!
