DOSBox is a program that emulates an old DOS computer and runs DOS games and applications on modern systems.

A few days ago I wanted to replay an old game that had problems with dosbox.
After some trial and error I tried dosbox-x and the game worked fine.
It has a lot more dependencies, but the first thing you notice is that it includes a graphical menu that you can use with the mouse.
Considering that the only decent interface I knew for dosbox was dbgl ( which however is in java) or retroarch (which requires some configuration), I would say that dosbox-x can be considered a good alternative.
