Interlink V52.9.8194 GTK3 en_UK (email and news client, slim Mozilla Thunderbird fork)

Same procedure as last year… :D

interlink V52.9.8194 GTK3 en_UK (email and news client, slim Mozilla Thunderbird fork) with the en_UK dictionary (instead of the en_US one) which is the most recent version.
Runs in x86-64 5.0 - should run on 4.0 as well (not tested, please tell me if it runs or not runs for you)
My system is XFCE with 4.12 version - using 003-xfce-4.12-20220218 module.

Initial post about older version with lots of info on interlink here: Interlink gtk2 (email and news client, slim Mozilla Thunderbird fork)

Cave¹! I removed the two deactivated Add-Ons.

Code: Select all

{e2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103}/ : Lightning calendar
{a62ef8ec-5fdc-40c2-873c-223b8a6925cc}.xpi : GoogleCalendar
CAVE²! By default Interlink downloads all of your INBOX and all other Email boxes like sent, spam or trash to your users home directory. That's in the case of my main Email account more than a GB of data, and it goes all into your RAM aufs filesystem and might freeze or even crash your system.
So, after you made your setup, aka gave the email address and IMAP settings and whatnot, best exit Interlink and move the folder "/home/guest/.binary outcast" and all subfolders to a non-RAM based media, best one with Linux filesystem (or you compromise security, see below).
After moving the folder, create a symlink that links to the new location on your hard drive (see below).
Only then you should start it up again and connect it to your email account to actually download the emails.

This looks like so on my machine:

Code: Select all

root@porteus:/home/guest# ls -l .binary\ outcast
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 37 Dec 31 03:39 .binary outcast -> /mnt/sda6/home/guest/.binary outcast/
You could as well use a FAT or NTFS filesystem, but be aware of the possible risks when you let Interlink store your Email account password. Therefore I strongly recommend using a Linux filesystem for storing the Interlink data and email post boxes :hi:

Here is the download link via filehorst:
https://filehorst.de/download.php?file=eJkpfbgI

Filename is "007-interlink-52.9.8194.linux-x86_64-gtk3_en_UK_rava_ln-interlink-bin.xzm"; size 40.64 MB or 42610688 bytes.
The md5sum is like filehorst says it is:
5f429fa5908aa369f634962cb6796c76

To get it, first wait 15 seconds "Dein Download wird jetzt vorbereitet." (Your download is being prepared)
Then click "Jetzt zur Download-Seite" (now to the download page)
Then click "Dein Download steht nun bereit. Klicke hier, um ihn zu starten." (Your download is ready. Click here to start downloading it)

Have fun with emailing to your hearts content. :Rose:

You might wonder why its called *ln-interlink-bin. That is because Firefox, Interlink and also Palemoon usually comes with a double binary, the one is named like the program, e.g. interlink, and the other is named interlink-bin. Both binaries are the very same, the md5sum proved that every time, so I replace one such binary with a symlink to the other.

(I have no clue why the size went up so much between this version and the 52.9.7899 one (was only 38.19 MB)
Now I know: I mistakenly left some old files in the opt/interlink/ folder. Sorry for that.

I will fix that. The download link URL will change, the module name stays the same, the md5sum is changed, and the size got smaller.
The old erroneous one: 51486720 bytes, 0fd8873f3c50e1d97d89a78d4da03c68 md5sum

The new one will be
42610688 bytes,
5f429fa5908aa369f634962cb6796c76 md5sum
I upload it right now, please stand by.

Uploaded the new version, fixed the download URL, file sizes and md5sum.

Sorry again for my mistake. But still, it is awesome I figured out something was amiss because the module file size increased too much. Yay for good and efficient written FOSS. <B :Yahoo!:

Cave!

To the one who downloaded the old module at "24.08.2022 14:55" UTC - please download the correct one.
I do not know who you are, I only saw one download at that timestamp prior deleting the old upload on filehorst - and any file hoster should not give the IP about downloaders to any of its uploaders anyway, so filehorst does everything correct, in my book.

Added in 4 minutes 14 seconds:
How do I know you haven't downloaded the new version?
Because there are no downloads for that version reported by filehorst yet.

No real harm is done when using the erroneous older one - it only has some outdated files no longer needed, I always test my nodules prior uploading them, of course, and both V 0fd8873f3c50e1d97d89a78d4da03c68 and V 5f429fa5908aa369f634962cb6796c76 (V via md5sum) work fine, still, only use the V 5f429fa5908aa369f634962cb6796c76 one and discard the other. Thanks.
Cheers!

Usually I never browse failbook (some seem to call it facebook or maga mega for some occult reason) but for free software I do make occasional exceptions, like for Binary Outcast (the ones behind Interlink) and me founds this precious:
<Gollum>My precccccccioussssssssssshhhh</Gollum>
https://www.failbook.com/binaryoutcast
Binary Outcast · October 31, 2019 ·
So Tuesday, we released another platform update focused version of Interlink Mail & News at 7238. https://binaryoutcast.com/projects/interlink/
This is the last version of the GTK3 Linux build that will run on systems and distros with glibc version less than 2.28. GTK2 build is unaffected. If you are using the GTK3 version you may want to update your system or switch to the GTK2 version before the next Interlink Release.
(highlighting by me)
Might be of interest for folks who run for whatever reasons older versions of Port. HTH.
