Hi everyone, old Porteus user here
I had stopped using porteus since version 3
(due to been force to use windows and arch at college)
but finally I can use my dear Porteus again
I gotta say that I appreciate a lot all the blood sweet tears and effort to make porteus a reality
I'm trying to get up to speed with porteus 5
I love xfce and openbox
and just saw a post here in the forum from the user evergreen
who released Ignis OS based on porteus with exactly what I wanted:
NodeJs sublime-Text and a beautiful Openbox theme
but the links it points to at sourceforge has no files what so ever
so wondering if anyone has an idea where I can get the Ignis Iso
anyway if it's gone for good, I will get my hands dirty
and compile all software I need and then upload it as xzm
in case anyone needs it
I but you know skipping all the work wouldn't be bad
ah and one question does appimages run well on porteus?
thanks for the awesome job guys

hello @joesab
if it is just for Openbox, it will be ease for me just make this module with theme and some setups to mix it with your current XFCE.
I will post something soon. is nice to see that you like such things I drop it because I am not updating and I am using now Icewm

What happened to Ignis OS ?
Hi!
Lets never forget the old legacies of Slax and its suite, like Nimblex and others as i vaguely recall. Then SlackWare - which is one problem Porteus now has to deal with IMHO...
I've been pleased to find a variant that was inspired by Arch Linux, though every new discovery comes with time-intensive side-kicks as i found out. At least the modular structure ain't too hard to understand and benefit from, but having to try multiple ISOs would certainly deter a significant number of potential converts. Now to mention Win10 products just like my tablet are going to meet some dead stop in useful support, on top of causing plain fresh-new installs once in a while (in my cas anyway). The migration path seems most inviting but it's still not for an average guy. much less elder although they're the ones most attached to legacy material...
I liked your mention of an alternate flavour i'll need to check eventually.

Wow what a quick reply thanks guys
Sure I would greatly appreciate if you @evergreen shared some modules
basically what I would enjoy is the cool theme and lightweightness with porteus
by the way if you are using Icewm with a good theme I would prefer if you can just share the modules
instead of going out of your way to make one with openbox (I don' t want to abuse your generosity)
since node, vscode and sublime-text are already there
maybe in the future I may try adding some wifislax modules to see if I can get the tools of wifislax (aircracking linset, goyscript etc) or metaexploit
@Bicephale hack yeah I agree with you buddy old school is still cool
