protonvpn error "cannot initialize curses"

I downloaded protonvpn here:
https://disk.yandex.ru/d/JlRoznuvFG-tVg ... 0%B5%D1%82
It doesn't work:

Code: Select all

protonvpn-cli --init
...
Enter OpenVPN password:
[.] ProtonVPN Plans:
1) Free
2) Basic
3) Plus
4) Visionary
Enter Your ProtonVPN plan ID: 1
[.] Would you like to use a custom DNS server? (Warning: This would make your VPN connection vulnerable to DNS leaks. Only use it when you know what you're doing) [y/N]: n
[.] [Security] Decrease OpenVPN privileges? [Y/n]: n
[*] Done.
protonvpn-cli -c
Fetching ProtonVPN servers...

cannot initialize curses
"cannot initialize curses"
What does that mean?
Maybe Blaze has an idea?
Many Thanks

Kulle, did you try it in uxterm or xterm (not in default terminal)?

protonvpn error "cannot initialize curses"

Hi Blaze,
many, many thanks.
The problem is solved.
protonvpn-cli --init you can do in the standard terminal.
But you have to do protonvpn-cli -c in the uxterm.
Why this difference?
Is there an explanation??

The uxterm has one major disadvantage:
ctrl + shift + c and ctrl + shift + v don't work
Why?

Seems UXTerm is support unicode (UTF-8) characters with specific dialog for the protonvpn-cli. Need to report to protonvpn about issue with support by others terminals.

About hotkeys copy and paste in xterm https://unix.stackexchange.com/question ... ste/450506
Probably, not bad if we will add this abbility for uxterm by default in Porteus too.

nice find ..should probly do this..

what can you do presently in uxterm/xterm is: middleclick paste of highlighted text from anywhere.. provided you're using a mouse with this function..

.Xresources with in the home directory

Code: Select all

XTerm*vt100.translations: #override \
    Shift Ctrl <Key> C: copy-selection(CLIPBOARD) \n\
    Shift Ctrl <Key> V: insert-selection(CLIPBOARD)
does not give positive result with CTRL+SHIFT+C and CTRL+SHIFT+V for Copy-and-Paste in the UXTerm
