update-libreoffice does not work

Post#16 by nnriyer » 17 Aug 2020, 07:27

After reboot, the it was not found either in module or internet menu. I have also created desktop icon. It has not upon reboot. Anyway I have again copied xzm file to module and activated without reboot. Let me see it is available after rebooting.

Better to share LO 6.2.8.2 xzm module version for x86 and don't touch the script :)

Yep, providing a module would be better, imo.
looks like the last 32bit version is 6.2.8.2
I have (not use) version libreoffice-6.4.6-i586 from alien repo
running on port_4 (xfce).

I've read the talk on Question for Blaze about LO build script
Following is the attempt to install the alien package, but I am not aware, there are 115 lib to resolve, does that means I would download every single piece of dependency one by one? as the the first notice on libCbc.so.3, I got this idea, I don't know about that. How to proceed?

Code: Select all

# usm -g libreoffice

by "fix the script", i meant, possibly, detecting i*86 and a polite message: no can do :)

from alien repo
that would have been the next place i looked :D
like you, i don't touch office software..
pican wrote:

i would get it directly, from here:
https://slackware.uk/people/alien/sbrep ... 1alien.txz
then, rightclick> convert slackware package to module(or txz2xzm) ,put it in your modules folder, activate it, and then see if that works..

I use all xzm modules stored in a secondary hdd mount point, so I am guessing putting in porteus modules/optional folder isn't a must. Even though the (converted) xzm libreoffice doesn't seem to work.

absolutely, anywhere outside of the live system is fine..

if you try running it in a terminal, the output may give some clue as to what could be missing..
donald, may be able to shed some light on what else is required..

update-libreoffice does not work

@pican
1st option
as ncmprhnsbl wrote
.. try running it in a terminal, the output may give some clue as to what could be missing..

2nd option
try if the LO module runs within xfce.
It should..(if it's OK)

how to
a) boot in copy2ram mode
b) replace /porteus/base/openbox module with 003-xfce module
c) reboot into always fresh mode -- your changes stay unchanged --
d) activate the libre-office module

....you can change back to openbox afterwards...

Post#29 by pican » 13 Dec 2020, 23:42

There is something missing cause the terminal command libreoffice --writer doesn't exist, either openbox and xfce. Steps taken: downloaded the LO txz, converted with txz2xzm, and activated with right click from file manager.

I can't reproduce it.

LO definitely runs on porteus 4 XFCE 32bit -- tested again, right now.

Using port-4 Openbox = LO does not work - same error as with LXDE, see:
Question for Blaze about his LibreOffice build script (Post by donald #79922)

Same setup but openbox module replaced with port_4-xfce module = LO runs, as shown
in the screenshot.
