KSPREAD very slow with .ods files

KSPREAD very slow with .ods files
This is not the first time that I use kspread. It seems very slow and even will freez manipulating .ods or openoffice writer files. Is there a reason for this?

Do you see the same behaviour when opening the file through a window manager by double clicking on it ... and opening it through the koffice workspace?
Any dump when opening the file from console: kspread /path/to/file.odt

It was thru opening by clicking on the file within the file manager as I usually do. In fact, I seldom use kspread. I prefer by far workig with openoffice or gnumric.
