19 V and 2.37 amps: wind generator in case

19 V and 2.37 amps. This is what my computer needs to be running. And from spring to fall, this would be all that would be needed in cas of a major blackout due to a major failure of the system. What could be called the Trump collateral effect.

Other collateral effects could be food shortage, water shortage, cold, agression from others.

So I am preparing myself for a major energy failure. :wink:

I am trying to planify with different scenarios. A few being:
1) wind electricity generator.
With a few research I found that a motor is an electricity generator and an electricity generator could activate a motor.

If you expect a power failure (blackout) you have to deal with reality.
(no place for romantic windmills)
And a Computer is useless in such a case.

The first thing you need is light.
candles, LED-Lamps and car batteries, a charger driven by hand or foot,
petrol for your car,(would also charge the batteries)

If the blackout lasts longer than 24 hr, you better own a weapon.

Maybe triggering vocations for a cleaner world in engineering amongst adolescents, but miniature model for industrious adults. Trying to introduce some simplicité volontaire philosophy (voluntary simplicity) here. Introducing some scientific and climate change favorable measures to counter direct Trump effect. :)

If you have any real man model to propose for the wind turbine, I will take it. :wink:

While a wind turbine may help, if you have wind, a solution that works around here is: gas furnace, gas fireplace, gas generator. :) Gasoline generators work also but are noisy and create carbon monoxide. :x

1.0 Wind turbine a curiosity for the individual, big business for the big producers.
In fact, it seems that the electricity grid is so cheap in Québec that a wind turbine will not beat it for now. Presently, the only real benefit to eolian energy are for the big producers which are providing presently 10% of the electricity produced in the state. Here is a map of the eolian production in Québec:

A quebecer has installed a wind turbine to provide for 20% of its electricity home production for 25,000$. The batteries or storage device being the most important asset in his installation. He lived far from the electricity grid provided by Hydro-Québec.

2.0 Photovoltaic production, not so much used.
Photovoltaic captation of energy would be a possibility, but the installation contractor expertise is missing in the belle province. Once more nothing beats the low rates of our electricity.

3.0 Passive energy housing.
What is left passive energy housing and best practice concerning electricity. Living in the cities near your workplace would be your best bet:
