Which VPN provider do you recommend located in Europe? Amongst other things, I would like to watch webtv. :)

My choice has come to ivacy, but yours might be different. Explain your preference.

Note:
With linux whatever VPN provider your choose openvpn is the useful package. Install openvpn with dependencies:
Install openvpn under porteus or slackware thru usm package manager:

Code: Select all

openvpn-2.3.11-x86_64-1.xzm
curl-7.49.1-x86_64-1.xzm
dialog-1.2_20130523-x86_64-1.xzm
fping-2.4b2_to-x86_64-2_slonly.xzm
Unzip OpenVPN-Configs.zip into /home/guest/Downloads/ and change directory the folder with the server addresses. Use openvpn --config command with the server.ovpn file name into quotes. Or simply drag the sever file into the command line after the expression:

Code: Select all

openvpn --config
Example for Paris server with ivacy vpn provider:

Code: Select all

root@porteus:~# cd /home/guest/Downloads/
root@porteus:~# openvpn --config /home/guest/Downloads/OpenVPN-Configs/France-Paris-UDP.ovpn

BTW have to be careful, even with this vpn managed to download 3.7 GiB yesterday without effort, and easily exceed bandwidth limit of 100G in month.

This is ok for me. I found an internet provider which as a plan for a few extra dollars that permits illimited download.

How come openvpn is free, is it slower than paying vpn like expressvpn and the like?

Got to install http://www.vpnbook.com/freevpn openvpn on porteus, you get opnvpn with usm. The thing works fine, the problem is that the speed is very slow. Probably not enough for streaming. Any fair proposition will be accepted.

Code: Select all

root@porteus:/home/guest/Downloads# openvpn --config vpnbook-us1-tcp443.ovpn

Problem is that you are in the Phillipines, and the connection there must be very slow. :D Being in Canada one gets a top speed of over 400 Kb/sec. Recommended min streaming speed is 64 Kb/sec. Bottleneck always seems to be file sharing sites, fluctuating around 120 Kb/sec +/- 100. :(

Frustrating.
